Stacey Robinson is an artist who lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband Steve and four children. Stacey paints in acrylic, oils and watercolour as often as possible in her home studio. To expand Stacey’s current practice she is studying a fine arts degree through Curtin University. Currently studying third year units in studio practice has helped to reiterate the high level of creativity, self-discipline, dedication and a capacity for self-criticism that is required in a contemporary art practice.

Current experiments in Fine Arts. Materials: compass, feathers, migratory maps, wire, brick, plaster, bandages, reused clothing etc

Stacey’s current area of investigation involves the unique flora and fauna along the Maroochy River. Spending time on the river kayaking and stand up paddle-boarding brings an awareness of the birds commonly found on the river - specifically the endangered migratory birds that visit the local area. Stacey’s current artworks are using a combination of collage items such as bandages, plaster, wires, paper and threads incorporating maps linking the shoreline birds’ migratory routes to the Sunshine Coast as well as her present life living on the Maroochy River. By using reused items such textiles and spectacles she endeavours to create a link between people and their environment and ask for people to look more closely. Loose threads show how endangered birds are a sign that our relationship with nature is coming undone. Threads also represent hope that our innate connection to nature will bring us solutions for our future together. By incorporating items we use for travel I hope to let people know more about migratory birds and their unique abilities for amazing long distance flights
